How to go back to basics and just focus on being happy and healthy.
I’ll be honest with you honey, sometimes this blog can be like therapy for me. I’ll have a pre-planned topic to write about each week, and when it comes to checking in on what that topic is when I sit down to write it, soooo many times it comes at *just* the right time for my own healing!
And yep, if you' hadn’t sussed, today is one of those times! It’s like I have my own serendipitous timing! Y’see I’ve been juggling some ‘stuff’ in my professional and personal life and I genuinely feel I just need to take a hot minute to just stahp. Go back to basics, and just focus on being happy and healthy.
So here I am, and I assume by you being here and reading this, here you are too, right here with me 😊 (and just so you know, you’re very welcome here too lovely, in my lil’ corner of the internet) ❤️️
But why do we find ourselves here? – is probably the best question to start with. Have you been on a personal development binge? Challenging yourself up all sorts of mountains of growth? 🙋 Have you been burning the candle at both ends? Working hard and playing hard? Or maybe it’s just a good ol’ fashioned burn out, where you’ve been piling on pressure layer over pressure layer, and you can’t quite steady the load anymore?
Whatever your particular sequence of events that brought you here, give yourself a sec darl (read: a good bit more than one literal second, you need a breather), to just feel your feelings. Don’t deny them. Don’t try and squash them. Don’t just try to plough on through. Certainly don’t try to ignore them. Because your mind and body is trying to tell you something.
You need to get back to being YOU.
So what is ‘being you’? And yeah, I get I’ve stepped over into the woowoo territory, but honey honey honey. Let me tell you, it’s where it’s AT 👊 because it’s the very reason why you are where you are – you’ve done too little of what lights you up.
So what does light you up?
Is it sketching or painting or doodling? Is it curling up on a sofa with some booze and your bestie and chatting sh*te in fluffy socks? Is it being out in nature with fresh air on your face? Is it dancing your tush off ‘til you drop? Is it spending an afternoon with some affectionate animals? Is it getting down on the floor with your littles and pretending you’re a climbing frame? It can literally be ANYTHING, or ALL of those things, but it’s especially something that you really enjoy doing (and you can’t remember the last time you did it) 👈 this is a pretty key bit.
Then simply commit to doing that, or something that helps you towards that, daily in some way. And yep, I mean quite literally committing a portion of your every day, to being about your fun stuff!
I’m talking timeblocking your day, first thing in the morning, and carving in non-negotiable you-time. Every single day. Maybe it’s a 10-minute walk to your favourite podcast or audiobook each day. Maybe it’s a commitment to at least one nourishing food choice each day. Maybe it’s a five minute meditation each day. Maybe it’s taking time out to arrange a date with your mate. Maybe it’s scheduling in time to book that ticket for a gig at the weekend. You get my jib.
It’s basically just giving you a goddamn moment to just BE.
In the moment.
Living 👏 your 👏 life 👏
It’s filling your consciousness with doing stuff just for you – to give you a chance to stop feeling depressed from always looking back at what has been, and getting hung up on what hasn’t happened for you yet.
It’s filling your consciousness with doing stuff just for you – to give you a chance to stop feeling anxious from always looking forward to what might or might not happen, and then worrying what either mean for you.
It’s filling your consciousness with doing stuff just for you – to up your frequency to match how you want to be feeling, and where you want to be.
(Btw, if the whole upping your frequency and increasing your vibrations sounds like a foreign language to you, have a watch of this video from Lavendaire, I think she does a great job of simplifying it right down to the scientific/spiritual basics. It’s bomb).
And overall, it’s really stepping into feeling gratitude for where you are right now and all that you have. Think back to one year, three years, 10 years or more, and remind yourself where you were then. Think back to when you wanted a version of what you have right now. (Whether it looks like you thought it would or makes you as happy as you thought it would is irrelevant! Because you made something happen y’know? You’re living out a version what you wanted, and you can do that again. This time with a better vantage point, right?).
I hope that’s helped get the cogs whirring (and it’s helped you realise that as much as personal and professional growth is one of my favourite topics, you’ve equally got to give yourself equal time to not be focused on the future, and be in the right now). ‘Cause let me tell ye, there’s gonna be a time when you look back to this time right now, and you’re gonna feel so nostalgic about it, you’re genuinely gonna feel sentimental. This right now, will be a fundamental part of ‘the good ol’ days’.
I promise you. So how about we start living in them? 😊
Until next weekend pookachu 💋
